...............WE HAVE MOVED TO A NEW ADDRESS

The story of Jim Mirkalami-The Single DAD

Okay, Techkeyla got it's posts on Jim Mirkalami deleted, coz apparently he wanted full authority on the name and whatever. Even others like Lee Sargent's Quityourdayjob have also done away with the post. Other's like Luke Welling's "Someguyranting" have still remained strong on keeping the posts intact. However, I managed to get hold of the post by Techkeyla and am re-posting them here.

Spam

Surprisingly, in moderating(read rating as spam) some of the comments, I received an unexpected comment from a certain Jim Mirkalami saying

I have been visiting this site a lot lately, so i thought it is a good idea to show my appreciation with a comment.

Thanks,
Jim Mirkalami

PS: I am a single dad *wink*

I approved it without noticing that it had google.com filled up in the URL text box and to me, at first glance, it all seemed like a sincere comment. But then, I thought to myself, well, this Jim Mirkalami could be someone really influential in the Blogging World and so I googled him. And I was proved wrong, yet again. Jim seems to be doing quite a number of rounds on comment boxes across the Blogosphere with his charming comment of being a Single Dad and the signing off wink. Another interesting thing is he (guessing his gender)has been using URLs of websites like Google, Yahoo and Ask in all the comments that he has posted. So how does this actually qualify as a Spam in the modern world where Spam is all about penile elongations and WWE Divas or may be the next edition of the Nigerian Inheritance whatever.
On Further googling, I came across this wonderful post by Lee who writes on QuitYourDayJob.com, that Mr. Mirkalami has got some bad press on his rather unusual online behavior of referring to these websites and ending with a mysterious “P.S. I am a single dad”.
First things first, why oh why does he does that? Is that single dad thing some sort of a USP, or a creator of online sympathy or a generator of a good image. Perhaps, we believe that spammers can never be single dads. Do we? And talking of image brings me close to the second thing. Well, this could be the case of an image built up of an online website. I searched for the obvious JimMirkalami.com and it kept my guess alive. It is a website under construction and could well be the reason why all this has been happening for so long.
Coming back to Lee’s post, the bad press to Jim’s comments seems to have hurt the sentiments of the Mirkalami family and well damage control strikes right back in the form of , Jim’s brother Seyed, or is it Brian? He has responded to this whole THING saying-

I thought at this point you should know that Jim, my brother, does not know what is going on on the net, he is not an internet savey type person.
He (Jim) is an appraiser of Gems and Jewelry and does auctions in the same field for others.
He mentioned to me that there may be a story about him circulating on the internet damaging to his reputation and wanted me to check it out and when I did I didn’t like what I saw.

For the entire reply read this .
The entire episode still leaves me in a state of utter confusion. One is, that by the sheer amount of blogs where these Mirkalami guys have commented, replied and even managed to keep reviewing the replies to those is just unimaginable. A fair estimate would be it must have taken them days to have done it all. And with that sheer dedication, what they have achieved is nothing but becoming one of the highest keyword searches and perhaps, Mr. Jim and his gemstone trade might get benefited in the future when JimMirkalami.com appears. But what the f is up with the Single DAD thing and the strange wink wink. Ugh!!! One last comment, Seyed in his reply to the bad press, concludes saying- “If you wish to speak to my brother “Jim” let me know, I will get his permission (as much as I don’t want him to know about any of these) and provide you with all his contact info”. Mr.Seyed, we REALLY REALLY don’t wanna know. No matter how much delve in the virtual world of social networking and make online friends whom we might not meet in our entire life span, we still would not like to talk to a confused Single Dad and his version of this Crap-o-rama. Sorry, no feel good here.

Thanks to Lee for the lovely post. And yes, I did approve that first comment, but now it can rather say Goodbye and rest in unrest in Spam Zone.

The link to Quityourdayjob's post doesn't work anymore.

I have a copy of the quit your day job posts (including Seyed/Brian Mirkalami's confession) if you want them too, but I cannot see an obvious email address on your blog.
